Chapter 4: Connection & Integration

Welcome to Chapter Four.

This chapter turns towards connection. Your body working as a whole, and the relationships and inner patterns that surround your healing. The movement becomes more functional here, while the supporting resources make space for some of the more tender ground: communicating with your partner, understanding different grieving styles, and learning to observe your own thoughts with a little more kindness.

Your Toolkit

This chapter brings together some of the most practical tools in the programme. Leaves on a Stream builds on the thinking styles work from the last chapter, giving you a technique to observe and gently release unhelpful thoughts rather than getting caught in them. Alongside it, you'll find a breath for calm practice from Sarah, and a guide to communicating with your partner, which helps you both to understand why grief can feel so different between two people who've been through the same loss, and how you can manage together as a team.

Breath for calm

This guide explores why grief can look and feel so different between two people who've shared the same loss. Even when you've been through it together, your experience and the way you each cope may differ greatly, and that can be hard to navigate.

Share it with your partner if you can, and use it as a starting point for a conversation. If sitting face to face feels too much, try talking whilst walking, it can ease the tension and help regulate stress for you both.
